how to successfully

photograph pet?

Avoid distractions at the background. Always keep the background simple.
Keep out of anything that will distract the pet’s attention, including other animals, active people, playing children. Try to keep everyone else off the set.

If you are photographing inside the house be sure that the color of the background or walls contrasts with the pet’s color and texture.

In order to control the pet in one place, give the pet a toy to play with or food to nibble on or a familiar pillow. Certain animals like to bask in the heat under a spotlight or infrared lamp. These include rabbits, hamsters, mice, and reptiles.

Cats are natural climbers and leapers. If you place an attraction on a table, you can get three different shots as the cat leaps to check it out: the crouch, the leap, and the landing. Balls of twine or wool are a time-honored natural for kittens.
